Most content about Bangkok tells you:
"Look how beautiful it is and how cheap it is."

·

This guide tells you:
"Here's what actually awaits you."

What's
in the guide.

01

"You can see Bangkok in two days."

No. Bangkok isn't a stopover before the beach. It has to be explored in layers — temples, local neighbourhoods, real life — and it takes years to understand it.

02

"I'm staying in Sukhumvit, it's convenient."

Sukhumvit is a tourist bubble with inflated prices and no contact with the real Bangkok. You've just booked a holiday in a shopping mall at 33 degrees.

03

"I'll take a taxi, they're cheap."

Bangkok traffic is legendary. A 4 km taxi ride at rush hour can turn into 40 minutes sitting still, going nowhere.

04

"The Thai smile? They're so friendly."

The Thai smile doesn't necessarily mean happiness. It's a social tool for avoiding embarrassment, saying "no" without saying it, handling awkward situations.

The most important one

"I'm on holiday, I can do whatever I want."

Tourist arrogance is the thing locals despise most — and you only notice it too late, when it would have been easy to avoid.

Bonus

"Thai women are all..."

This one's in the guide. I'm not writing it here.

Inside the guide
  • 4 rookie mistakes that cost you money and ruin the experience
  • Currency exchange: where to do it and where never to
  • ATM withdrawals: how to avoid pointless fees
  • Water, ice and street food: what's safe
  • Tuk-tuks: how to use them without getting ripped off
It's for you if
  • You're going to Bangkok for the first time
  • You've already been but never got how it really works
  • You want to travel without looking like the classic tourist
  • You'd rather know beforehand than learn the hard way

"Bangkok doesn't forgive those who arrive
with the wrong expectations.
This guide is here so you don't have them."
